PHOC

Since I have been able to walk I have spent my most of my life within the Christian camp world.  My father was an Executive Director at a Christian Camp for 40 years.  As a child I would follow my father around camp as he directed staff, led programs and performed many of the other duties that Executive Directors do.  Only God would know that years later I would follow in his footsteps and become an Executive Director myself. Throughout the years I have not only seen camp transform lives but I have witnessed it within myself.  It was at camp that I faced my fears on a high ropes course and saw my self-confidence grow.  It was at camp where I made lasting friendships that still exist to this day.  It was at camp where I met my wife and even where I got married.  It was also at camp where I gave my life to Christ, and where I have seen so many other campers and staff do the same. Camp has the ability to create an environment where campers connect.  Without many of the distractions of home, connecting is easier.  Campers, whether young or old can connect with one another, with themselves, with nature and with God.  Hearing God is easier within His creation, and the ability to reflect on one’s self is sometimes easier on a retreat from home. My hope is that Pleasant Hill Outdoor Camp can be your retreat, your home away from home.  As we embark on our Fall Retreat Season and into next year my prayer is that we may provide a place for connecting on a deeper level.  With God’s guidance, campers and guests of all ages can reconnect with nature, with each other and most importantly hear God and connect on a deeper level with Him.
