Dear Camp Friends,
My first summer at Pleasant Hill was 2017, and I absolutely loved it. In my time here I served as Cabin Counselor, Faith and Family Coordinator, and Seasonal Program Director. I still vividly remember how I thought Summer 2021 was going to be my last summer here, but God tugged on my heart and told me I was meant to be at camp full-time for the next season of my life. I have been serving full-time for about 3 years. I am writing this to let you know that my season here at a place that I call home has come to an end. I am moving on to the next season of my life. In December, I graduated with my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health, and I am so excited to jump into the field.
Over the past years, I have seen campers grow up, my previous campers join staff, helped with many retreats, and seen staff turn into family. I have been impacted and blessed so much by the campers and families that I have interacted with over the past years here, and I wanted to let you know that. These memories will last more than a lifetime.
People have been telling me it must be bittersweet, and honestly, it does. A crazy side effect of working at camp is that both staff and campers become people that you look forward to seeing every year, because in many ways they are family. There are years when staff or campers are missing, and I have been like, man, their presence is missed. I guess I have to get used to that feeling.
Therefore, I did not want to officially leave without simply saying: “Thank you. Farewell. Kenal out.” I know that God will continue to do great things through Pleasant Hill Outdoor Camp, its leadership, and staff.
With Love,
Kenai
