WILDERNESS SKILLS AT OUTPOST
Select Wilderness Skills at Outpost as your Skill Area Track and Gain a New Confidence!
Have you ever wondered how you can make fire by rubbing sticks? Take your camping skills to the next level when you select Wilderness Skills at Outpost as your morning skill area. It all happens at our newest camping area redesigned and rebuilt to meet the needs of our campers. As a Wilderness camper you’ll get an in depth look and learn new skills in compasses, GPS navigation, fire building with flint & steel, fire building with bow drill, shelter building, outdoor cooking, knots and lashing, camp site evaluation, and many other practical camping skills. Wilderness campers will even assist the counselors in preparing their own breakfast each day often times over the open fire. And if that wasn’t cool enough, it gets better! After a full morning of developing new outdoor skills, campers join the main campus for lunch in the dining hall followed by a full afternoon of activities including swimming, zip line, tubing on the lake, snack shack and more. A delicious dinner at the camp dining hall caps off the afternoon. Whether learning shelter building or flint and steel fires, or learning camp cooking and trail lore you’ll be sure to have a blast. Come catch the flavor of big open skies and starry nights! Wilderness campers have full regular access to facilities including water, and modern restrooms with hot showers. Wilderness campers stay in camp favorite Appalachian style lean-to shelters. All facilities are safe, modern and dry.
