Wilderness Camp Basic & Advanced

Have you ever wondered how you can make fire with flint & steel?  Here at Ohio's favorite summer camp we’ll teach you how.  Take your camping skills to the next level at Wilderness Camp!  As a Wilderness camper you’ll get an in depth look at primitive wood lore and foundational backcountry skills.  All Wilderness campers stay at Outpost, located in the back of our 240 acres of forest, in camp favorite Appalachian style lean-tos, with our new shower house and remodeled dining pavilion. 

Wilderness Camp Basic vs. Advanced, What's the difference? 

Basic: (Grades 3-6) Campers sleep at Outpost, and spend their mornings working on outdoor skill sets. Basic Wilderness Campers then merge with Adventure Camp for the afternoons and evenings.  A great way to stick your toe in the water and try wilderness camp out.  

Advanced: (Grades 3-12) Start your week out by paddling around the lake and hiking into Outpost. You then spend the whole week up at Outpost getting an in-depth look at essential wilderness skills such as orienteering, wilderness survival skills, outdoor cooking, and the opportunity to spend the night in the shelter you build.  Hikes to Lyons Falls and special swimming holes will help you stay cool and round out what is sure to be an amazing experience.

Activities include:

                GPS navigation, fundamentals of fire building, flint & steel fires, shelter building, outdoor cooking, knots and lashing, camp site set up, trial lore, constellations, orienteering and many other practical camping skills.
